What you’ll need to make this smoothie

Ingredients laid out for smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (regular or vanilla)
  • 1–2 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder (whey/casein or preferred blend)
  • 2 heaping tablespoons unsweetened cocoa or cacao powder
  • 3 slightly heaping tablespoons unsweetened peanut butter
  • 1 small frozen banana, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 to 1 cup ice cubes (adjust for desired thickness)

There are just three simple steps to make this smoothie

Directions:

  1. Pour the almond milk into a blender. Add protein powder, cocoa, peanut butter, frozen banana, vanilla extract, and start with 1/2 cup ice.
  2. Blend until smooth and thick. Stop to scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend again. Add more ice for a thicker texture or a splash more almond milk to thin it slightly.
  3. Divide into two glasses, add optional toppings such as cacao nibs or a small dollop of whipped topping, insert a straw, and enjoy.
